As IDF German, the Association facilitates cooperation between all members of the dairy sector. Therefore, it also aims to support dairy science and to promote technological progress in the dairy sector.

The results of our work have an indirect or direct effect on the Federal States’ quality assurance measures for milk and milk products. Equally, individual farms and companies also benefit directly or indirectly from the Associations advice on all issues relating to the dairy industry.

Due to its neutral position, the German Dairy Association is funded independently. The VDM is financed by member fees and additionally receives levies according to § 22 of the Milk and Fats Act. This fundamental consensus enables the German Dairy Association to perform its activities on a neutral basis as a national committee and as an industry and umbrella organization.
